Taking Flight began as a return to an earlier piece, but it quickly became something much more personal.

For a long time, I felt as though my creativity lived quietly in the background. There was a sense of being held back by self doubt, by the feeling of not quite being good enough, or by the belief that doing what I truly loved might never really be possible. It felt safer to stay still, even when everything inside wanted to move.

Revisiting this artwork brought those feelings back into focus. The bird, poised and alert, became a reflection of that moment just before change the breath before leaving the branch. Creating it again, now, felt different. This time it carried a sense of release, of trust, of finally stepping forward without needing certainty.

Taking Flight is about choosing to move anyway. About allowing yourself to step into the unknown, to lift off, and to see what’s possible when you stop holding yourself back. It marks a quiet but powerful shift from waiting, to becoming.
