Artwork Story
Artwork Story
I painted Waiting for Me when I was 16, during my GCSE Art course at school.
We didn’t have beautiful materials or endless supplies. We worked with what was there. A piece of hardboard. Simple paints. Whatever was available. But I didn’t mind. I just loved being able to create.
My teacher had set up a still life for us to study, and I made several sketches first, looking at it from different angles. I was inspired by Picasso’s way of showing more than one viewpoint at once, and I wanted to explore that in my own way.
At that time, art was more than a subject to me. It was the one place where I felt truly confident. Where I felt capable. Where I felt like myself.
My teacher believed in me. She could see that I had something. And for the first time, I started to believe it too. I began to imagine a future where art wasn’t just something I loved… it was something I might actually do with my life.
Then everything changed.
I became a mum very young, and overnight my world shifted. Suddenly, surviving, coping, and doing the right thing for my family mattered more than anything else. Dreams had to be put to one side. Not because I didn’t care about them — but because I had no choice.
At the time, I didn’t fully understand what I was leaving behind. I just kept going.
This painting now carries all of that for me.
The hope.
The talent.
The possibility.
And the moment where life quietly pulled me in a different direction.
For many years, I barely painted at all. But the love for it never went away. It stayed with me, quietly, patiently, waiting.
That’s why this piece means so much to me now.
It reminds me that even when I had to step away, I never truly lost who I was. I just took a long way back to myself.

• Bedrooms, reading corners, or creative spaces where calm and self-expression meet.
• Homes that value authenticity, growth, and life journeys over perfect interiors.
• Interiors with warm, neutral tones, natural light, and a lived-in, loved feel.
• Spaces where art is chosen for its story as much as its beauty.
• Homes of those who appreciate resilience, creativity, and second chances.
Materials & Finish
Materials & Finish
This artwork was originally created by Andrea using acrylic paint, applied by hand with a layered, expressive approach that builds depth, movement, and texture.
Reproduced prints are professionally produced as fine art giclée prints on high quality, archival cotton paper. This paper is carefully chosen for its subtle texture, excellent colour reproduction, and ability to retain the character and tonal richness of the original painting.
Framed artworks are finished in high quality standard frames, available in white, black, or natural finishes. Each frame is paired with a clean off white mount, giving the artwork space to breathe and ensuring a timeless, balanced presentation designed to suit a wide range of interiors.
